Description:
The Estate: 10 kilometres from Matera and thirty kilometres from the beaches along the Ionian Sea, l'Orto di Lucania - a farm offering guest accommodation- is situated in a valley overlooked by the town of Montescaglioso in the province of Matera, Basilicata.
On our estate measuring 250 hectares on the banks of the Bradano River, we grow wheat, maize, tomato eggplant, artichoke, olive and fruit, utilizing a system of integrated pest-control. On our own premises, we at l'Orto di Lucania process the estate-grown vegetables according to age-old traditional procedures and pack them into jars.
Moreover, we offer accommodation in comfortable apartments for a full-immersion in nature which is here characterized by bright sunlight, intense colours breathtaking sunsets and starry skies at night.
Our guests may choose from six built and tastefully furnished apartments each with a:
spacious bedroom provided with bedding
living room with a sofa-bed for two people and a fireplace (wood is available for cold winter nights)
kitchen equipped with cooking utensils, dishes and table linen
bathroom with a shower, towels and a hair-dryer
spacious patio with garden furniture
Every unit is equipped with air-conditioning and heating. Upon request, television sets, cribs, highchairs or strollers are available for our youngest guests. One of our apartments has been especially equipped for disabled guests.
Laundry and ironing facilities may be used in the common area.
Located in a sunny and breezy spot-like the deck of a ship-among wheat fields and vegetable patches, the swimming pool offers splendid views of the towns surrounding the valley. Our guests are free to use the beach umbrellas, sun-loungers, deck-chairs, tables and fridge-bar.
Leisure time: The premises of our Estate are open to all our guests for long walks in the countryside and along the Bradano River.
